On the last show of the Tony Joe White supports I played in May, Me and the Swamp Fox sat down and had a one on one talk. We talked and shared whiskey. We talked influences, what we where reading and some of the big names TJW has worked with. He named some of the best that there ever was, including everyone from Elvis to The Black Crowes. Tony Joe White's contribution to music is undeniable and it was an honour to share the same stage and dressing room with him. In our conversation I mentioned to Tony Joe that nowadays there just aint no honour amongst thieves, and loyalty has lost its meaning. We talked a little more and when Tony Joe's minder said it was time to go. Tony Joe got up and said to me "its been great talking to you son" then he said "that's a great title for a song" and I replied "what one is that?", and Tony Joe said "Honour amongst Thieves, that would make a great song". What a great way to end our conversation. Needless to say I have written 2 songs now with that title, just to make sure I get it right.
If you're down south watch out for our side project called "JETHRO & THE BILLY BOB BROTHERS". We play blues & then smoke grass and when we mix em together we get Bluegrass. We play banjos mandolins and heck knows what else. We'll be playing on Sat 30 July at The Commercial Hotel in Milton.
